Today U.K. stocks higher at close of trade
U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Banking sectors led shares higher.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 2.00% to hit a new 3-months high.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC , which rose 11.05% or 70.60 points to trade at 709.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Standard Chartered PLC added 10.64% or 50.100 points to end at 520.800 and BHP Billiton PLC  was up 9.18% or 74.20 points to 882.80 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Tesco PLC, which fell 7.79% or 15.3000 points to trade at 181.0000 at the close. WM Morrison Supermarkets PLC declined 1.99% or 4.00 points to end at 197.20 and Randgold Resources Ltd was down 1.24% or 85.00 points to 6775.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1664 to 499 and 407 ended unchanged.

Gold for June delivery was down 1.06% or 13.40 to $1247.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.09% or 0.04 to hit $42.13 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.34% or 0.15 to trade at $44.54 a barrel.

GBP/USD was down 0.29% to 1.4219, while EUR/GBP fell 0.59% to 0.7935.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.76% at 94.73.
