Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) has upgraded its website by including more information regarding financials and establishment backgrounds of listed companies to ensure availability of information. DSE managing director (MD) Dr. Swapan Kumar Bala launched the upgraded version of the website on Thursday. The premier bourse has taken the move to help investors get a complete picture of the listed securities, required for their investment decisions.
"The profiles of 46 listed companies have already been upgraded, and upgradations of the remaining companies will be completed gradually," the DSE MD said. He said the investors will get different information, including a company's background, delisting, re-listing and credit rating status in the updated website. DSE has upgraded profiles of the listed securities in different segments, such as - market information, basic information, annual general meeting, interim financial performance, price-earnings (P/E) ratio, financial performance as per audited financial statements, continuous financial performance, and shareholding status. In the market information segment, the investors will get a company's share transaction-related information, such as - range of market price and volumes.
They will get the graphs of closing price, total trading and volume for period ranging from one month to two years along with the companies' capital-related information placed in the basic information segment. The AGM-related segment includes a chart of the companies' other comprehensive income. In the new website, the investors will get the diluted EPS calculated as per regulations of the securities regulator along with basic EPS. They can know about the sponsors who were with the companies during listing. The premier bourse has also created the option of upgrading information on the website by the companies themselves.
The DSE MD said some mismatches between the quarterly financials were observed while upgrading the profiles of 21 listed companies. According to him, a company showed the EPS of Tk 2 and Tk 3 for 1st quarterly and 2nd quarterly respectively. "In that case, the company showed EPS of Tk 6 or Tk 4 for two quarters, whereas its EPS was supposed to be Tk 5." DSE has asked those companies to remove the errors found in the quarterly financials, he added. Presently, there are 290 listed companies, 39 mutual funds, 8 debentures, 221 treasury bonds and two corporate bonds listed with the premier bourse. mufazzal.fe@gmail.com
