U.K. stocks lower at close of trade
U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Forestry & Paper, Automobiles & Parts and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors led shares lower.

At the close in London, the bbc-stocknews.blogspot.com United Kingdom 100 fell 1.15%.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were J Sainsbury PLC, which rose 1.25% or 3.600 points to trade at 292.400 at the close. Meanwhile, Travis Perkins PLC  added 1.16% or 21.00 points to end at 1827.00 and Tesco PLC was up 0.86% or 1.6000 points to 186.6000 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Land Securities Group PLC, which fell 3.07% or 34.00 points to trade at 1074.00 at the close. Associated British Foods PLC declined 2.98% or 96.00 points to end at 3131.00 and Glencore PLC  was down 2.97% or 4.9500 points to 161.8000.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1238 to 773 and 475 ended unchanged.

Gold for June delivery was down 1.10% or 13.80 to $1236.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.69% or 0.73 to hit $43.91 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.75% or 0.78 to trade at $45.31 a barrel.

GBP/USD was up 0.43% to 1.4384, while EUR/GBP fell 0.98% to 0.7804.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.52% at 95.11.
